• The Blue Nile rises into the highlands of the country Ethiopia, then races down into the desert in thundering torrents
• The White Nile is calmer than the Blue Nile; it begans in East Africa and flows northward through swamp
• The Blue Nile and the White Nile meet in the country of Sudan
• The Nile River protects the people of the Nile from foreign invasions
